How to enable leech protection via Cpanel in linux servers?
Linux servers comes with cPanel/WHM. Leech protection in cPanel prevents the cpanel users from posting their username and password publicly. When the unauthorized user access the username and password which was posted wrongly in the public during that time leeching arise easily and they can access the secured websites.
To prevent leeching we can set email notification alert or else we can keep suspension rule for login failures.
Please follow the below-given steps to enable leech protection on your account.
- Login to cPanel
- Select the ‘Leech Protection’ option under the ‘Security’ section.
- Select the directory which you want to protect
- Set the maximum number of logins you want to allow
- Redirect users who exceed the maximum number of logins within a two-hour period, enter a URL to the ‘URL
- To set email alert use ‘Send Email Alert To’ option
- To Disable Compromised Accounts use Disable compromised option
- Click on Enable
