How do I set the MIME Type of a file in cPanel

MIME types in cPanel allows the users to set Multi–Purpose Internet Mail Extensions of a file.If a file is sent to a browser, the MIME type of that file also sent to the browser inorder to open that file.

A MIME type has two parts

(i) Type
(ii) Subtype.

For example, the MIME type for Microsoft Word files is application/msword, where application is a type and msword is a subtype.

To add a custom MIME type, please follow the below steps,

1.Login to your cPanel by using your credentials
2.Go to MIME Types under Advanced option
3.In Create A MIME Type interface, Enter your MIME type
4.Enter the extension for your file.
5.Click on Add button to save the custom MIME type.

To delete a MIME Type, please follow the below steps

1.Login to your cPanel by using your credentials
2.Go to MIME Types under Advanced option
3.Go to User Defined MIME Types
4.Select the MIME Type
5.Go to actions and click delete icon
