How to Upload and download files using WinSCP


WinSCP is an open source free SFTP client, FTP client, SCP client for Windows. Its main function is file transfer between a local and a remote computer.

1. Give the server Ip address in the Host name text field

2. Next, enter the User name and password here

3. Then click Save

4.  Click ok

5. Enter a name for the session in the Save session as per your requirement

6. Then click OK

7. Click Login

8. Now its successfully connected to our website via FTP, and the session is saved for future use

9. You can able to transfer the files via FTP in WinSCP

10. Inorder to disconnect the Session. Go to session and then click disconnect (shift+ctrl+D)


Procedure to upload and download files using WinSCP

1) Select the files which we want to upload in our local computer window. 

2) Click Copy which is available in the bottom of the page or use the shortcut key F5.

3)One text box will be appear in that you can give the path of the remote directory and click Copy again.

4)We’ve successfully uploaded the selected files to the remote server via WinSCP , and they are now also displayed in the remote server window.

5) Now let’s download the file from the remote server to our local computer via WinSCP.  Select the file which you want to download. 

6)Then click Copy.

7)Similarly One text box will be appear in that you can give the path of the local directory and click Copy again.

8)Now we’ve successfully downloaded the selected files to the local directory via WinSCP , and they are now also displayed in the local computer.
