How to Change File and Folder Permissions in cPanel?

Each file and folder(directory) has the permission which can control who will read, write and execute that file and folder(directory). It will be very useful to restrict the access of files and folders. When files and folders are created, default permission will be assigned for that files and folders. But if there is any update or installation or need any custimization, we have to change the files and folders permission. You can able to change the file and folder permission via cPanel or FTP.

Kindly refer the below procedure to view the file and folder permission by using cPanel:

1. Login your cPanel of the domain
2. Click the File Manager under files section

Now you can able to see the file and folder permission in the right side of the file and folder. Also refer the below details whcih is having default files and permission.

750 : public_html
755 : Folders
755 : CGI and Perl scripts
644 : .html .php and other Document Types of files

Kindly refer the below procedure to change the file and folder permission by using cPanel:

1. Login your cPanel of the domain
2. Click the File Manager under files section
3. Click File permission link on the right side of file and this will bring one popup window and you can change the permission as per your need by checking the level of access User, Group and World.
4. Once you are finished editing your file permissions click the Change Permissions button.
