How do I Enable/disable SSH Password Authorization ?


Linux Fully Managed Dedicated Server comes with full root access and standard cPanel/ WHM where you will get a control to make any changes at anytime. You will also get a SSH access to manage via SSH.

cPanel provides user friendly access to the users, even the beginners also can easily do any kind of tasks.

Using the below procedure you can Enable/disable SSH Password Authorization in the WHM.

  1. Login to the WHM as a root
  2. Go to “SSH Password Authorization Tweak” under Security Center option
  3. Now you can see the below details,

Password Authentication is currently enabled.

Disable Password Auth

or

Password Authentication is currently disabled.

“Enable Password Auth”

  • If Password Authentication is enabled, you can able to access SSH using root password without root’s SSH Keys.
  • If Password Authentication is disabled, you are unable to access SSH using root password and you can access SSH using root’s SSH Keys. In this the system will force users to use keys when they use SSH to access your server.

Note : By disabling SSH Password Authentication you restrict unwanted access to server by any attacker.
